It’s been a stunning 12 months for Gray-Nicolls athletes and teams. Let’s deep dive into some of the moments of the year as we celebrate 2024 and welcome 2025.
Harry Brook 317
It’s hard to start anywhere else. Harry Brook played one of the all-time great Test innings as he put Pakistan’s bowlers to the sword in Rawalpindi. We saw all sides of Brook’s game, but by the time he reached three figures we were treated to the very best of Brook’s at times unbeatable offence.
Amelia goes Kerr-ching for glory
New Zealand’s women tasted success on the global stage for the first time winning the T20 World Cup. The star of their efforts: Amelia Kerr. In the final alone Kerr hit 43 and took 3 wickets, a snap shot of her impact throughtout the tournament. She end the tournament as 9th highest scorer, top wicket taker and with the tournament trophy and Player of the Tournament award in her possession.
SKIPPER SHAN GOES BIG
Shan Masood started the year captaining Pakistan for the first time. By the time England had left in October, he’d earned his first series win and scored a maiden century as skipper. Calm and assured, the Masood era was off and running.
Captain Pope
Ollie Pope was named England Test captain in Ben Stokes’ absence for second half of the English summer. Pope guided his side to victory and scored a stunning ton, his third of the year.
Bedingham Makes His Mark
Having been the dominant batter in County Cricket for many years, David Bedingham made the ultimate impact in the international arena with a century against New Zealand in just his fourth Test.
Double trouble at Men’s T20 World Cup
It was a case of another international tournament, another set of stunning designs for the GN Teamwear countries. Scotland were pretty in pink while Netherlands evoked memories of 1996 with their jersey.
Bouchier Comes of Age
Maia Bouchier broke into the England set-up in 2023. In 2024, she cemented her place as one of the top batters in the world across formats. First came an ODI ton against New Zealand, followed-up by a Test century on debut against South Africa. Mighty Boosh indeed.
Danger Danger! High Voll-tage!
Georgia Voll is the latest star on the Australian women’s cricket conveyor belt. The powerful striker Queenslander made her ODI debut against India and duly struck a ton in her second match. At just 21 she’s a star of the present and future.
Atkinson’s Golden Year
There won’t be many cricketers with a debut year like this. Five fer. 10 fer. Test century. Test hattrick. Gus Atkinson did just this. With the Ashes on the horizon, Atkinson is now an integral cog in England’s machine.
Saud Joins GrayNics
We were delighted to welcome Saud Shakeel to Gray-Nicolls prior to Pakistan’s series against England. He made his mark with a match winning century in the third Test, an innings that Brendon McCullum described as “Death by a thousand cuts”.
Kyle Turns on the Style
Kyle Verrynne is continuing the heritage of Gray-Nicolls wicketkeeper-batters with his fine displays for South Africa. The were none better than his outstanding and unbeaten century against Sri Lanka.
NEOCORE Launches
The cricket equipment story of the year went to NEOCORE, our incredible new concept bat with internal scoop and patented new handle technology. Demand with strong with our top two models selling out in one day. We can’t wait for everyone to try one in 2025.
Sutherland ‘Til I Die
Annabel Sutherland bookended the year greatness. In February she scored an incredible double century against South Africa in the one-off Test in Perth. In December she reached three figures again in the third ODI against India at the same venue. A star with bat and ball.
Williamson the King of New Zealand
It was another year of brilliance from the unflappable Kane Williamson in Test cricket, whose home record continues to defy belief. Twin hundreds in home town Tauranga in February against South Africa were followed by a third the following week to cap a stunning series for the former skipper.
Head of the Table
While the fireworks of T20 cricket are Travis Head specials, his form in the game’s longer formats continues to show his quality. A Test century in Janaury against West Indies was classic Head, while his recent back-to-back Test tons showed just why India are his favourite opponent.
Beaumont Rises Again
Tammy Beaumont once again showed her quality with a monumental ODI best of 150* against Ireland in September. That was her 10th ODI ton in an outstanding career to date.
Charith The Champ
Charith Asalanka got the year started with a bang with a stunning ODI century against Ziimbabwe in Colombo.
So Much Riz
Everybody loves Rizwan. It’s easy to see why with his energy and infectious personality. His batting and keeping aren’t bad either – as shown by his magnificent 171* against Bangladesh in August.
Kusal Returns
Kusal Mendis returned to Gray-Nicolls with a bang notching two tons, including the first international century scored with the new Ventus!
